The New Craft Beer Cellar is Worth the Visit

We recently checked out the new Craft Beer Cellar in Lakewood--a cool new beer shop and tap room in Old Lakewood that sits in a spot that used to be inhabited by a Papa John's Pizza, right next to another favorite spot of ours, Cock & Bull. The place has been highly anticipated, and well-received, and we wanted to know what the hype was all about.
When we walked in, we were immediately greeted by a complimentary beer tasting, with several different types of luxury / craft beer for us to try. There was a red ale, a stout, a cherry lambic, and a hefeweizen. All were good, but we settled on the lambic to take home. Which leads us to another great feature of Craft Beer Cellar--while they carry many hard-to-find beers, you can generally purchase them one bottle/can at a time, and mixing-and-matching is encouraged. They even provide prices broken down by the six-pack, or as a single. Very handy when you want to try a lot of the beers they carry. And, they carry a lot. Each cooler door is categorized by type of beer inside, and they even have a specialty section for Trappist beers.

Best of all is their small bar, which has roughly 17 beers on tap at any one time, and is very growler-friendly. I settled on the Le Freak IPA by Green Flash Brewing Co. out of San Diego, while Natalie went for the Reverie Sour by Martin House Brewing Co. out of Fort Worth. Both were great seasonal choices, served out of appropriate-sized glasses, at a very fair price. At the long table immediately behind the bar, they even had recent beer publications available to read, and sell merchandise as well. All-in-all, it was a great experience. With the Lakewood Gingerman now closed (very unfortunately), we'll be sure to visit Craft Beer Cellar often.
